Our physical space closed early in due to expanding rental costs, and most of our library and archival materials went to other institutions, but we plan to continue our mission via sponsorships, online events, pop-ups, and publishing. There are endless good causes to support this year. Queer people and others need help navigating the economic and health effects of the pandemic. Getting the white supremacist and chief transphobe out of the White House is critical. Please know that we are not asking for your financial support ahead of these life-or-death issues. Please support the organizations that directly keep us alive and safe!



Center for Sex and Culture
The historic nonprofit that served as a central meeting space for the sex-positive community in San Francisco no longer has a physical home, as rising rents have forced the center to shutter, according to its co-founder. Those just passing by the little yellow building at Mission Street may not have known what was going on the other side of the walls. Throughout the last 20 years, the Center for Sex and Culture took many forms. It was, at once, a gallery, an archive, a library, and an event space. Events like rope bondage classes, masturbate-a-thons, and a reading series that dated back to the mids were just small slivers of its eclectic calendar.





It closed in January It is also engaged in several fiscal sponsorships with artists, educators, and organizations.. Carol Queen is a writer and cultural sexologist with a Ph. She is a noted essayist whose work has appeared in dozens of anthologies.
